The Story of Little Black Mingo
The Story of Little Black Mingo.
Little Black Mingo is an orphan forced to live with the cruel Black Noggy, who sends her on a dangerous errand to fetch water from the river. There, a hungry mugger—a large crocodile—smashes her water pot and gives chase. When Noggy sends her back with an even bigger pot, the hidden predator catches her and carries her away to a lonely island.
Trapped beside a mound of crocodile eggs, Little Black Mingo fears she will become the creature’s next meal. Her fortunes begin to change when she rescues a mongoose stranded in a floating bush. Grateful and fearless, the mongoose discovers the eggs and sets about eating them, giving the frightened girl an unexpected ally. This lively animal adventure combines danger, humor, and quick thinking as a small, mistreated child faces formidable enemies and searches for a way home.
