Description

A ragged caravan clutches its way through the barren stretch of Poplar Springs, where stunted poplars and cottonwoods punctuate an endless desert. Led by the grizzled Rance Williams, the travelers—including a nervous young woman and the reluctant Reverend Josiah Weston—set up a makeshift camp under a sky bruised with storm clouds, each of them carrying their own burdens and secrets. The reverend, dispatched with a confidential message for the distant town of Sunbeam, wrestles with unfamiliar hardships and the uneasy respect of men who doubt his purpose.

As night falls, the firelight reveals a growing tension between survival and the unknown perils that await in Sunbeam, a place described as raw and unforgiving. Williams warns that a pretty face can be both a curse and a shield, hinting at dangers that extend beyond the desert’s sand. In the quiet before dawn, the caravan must decide whether to press on toward a town that promises both hope and hidden threats, setting the stage for a journey that tests faith, loyalty, and the strength of unlikely alliances.
