Description

In a quiet river town where a steep, weed‑choked lane leads to an aging wharf, the brig Industry rolls in after years at sea. Captain Solomon and his crew, who have not seen home for more than a year, hurriedly tie up the ship, eager to reunite with families and share the exotic treasures they have brought from India and China. Their relief is tempered by the creaking docks and the lingering scent of salt, setting a nostalgic stage for the adventures that follow.

The collection follows the crew through a September gale, a sudden fire on deck, playful porpoises surfacing beside the hull, and encounters with sharks and albatrosses. Each vignette is illustrated by Diantha W. Horne, giving listeners a vivid picture of moonlit sails, bustling markets, and the quiet patience of a lighthouse keeper. The tales blend humor, gentle lessons, and a love of the sea, inviting listeners to drift alongside the Industry as it navigates both calm waters and tempests.
