Description

The glittering ballroom of a London mansion sets the stage for a season of elegance and rivalry, where the vivacious American debutante Adelaide Horton dazzles a crowd of aristocratic beauties. Raised on a Louisiana plantation untouched by the horrors of slavery, she arrives in England ignorant of the darker currents that flow beneath her privileged world, and her carefree charm soon ignites both admiration and envy among the English elite.

Against this backdrop, two striking young men watch from a quiet antechamber: the aloof, blue‑eyed Mortimer Percy, a genteel cousin wearied by society’s trappings, and the sun‑kissed, restless engineer‑poet Gilbert Margrave, whose restless spirit longs for the wildness of distant rivers. Their contrasting personalities hint at hidden motives and looming conflicts, while whispers of a concealed heritage begin to stir, promising a tangled web of love, identity, and social expectation that will test every character’s resolve.
