In the sun‑blasted Badlands of Broken Butte, a handful of hard‑bitten cowhands and crooks find themselves holed up in a ramshackle bunk‑house, nursing bruised egos and empty pockets. Their leader, an aging rancher who has just drawn his final will, has left the lot they’ve been skimming—cattle, brand marks, and a share of a once‑promising herd—up in the air. The men’s desperate chatter crackles with accusations, old grudges, and the bitter taste of a deal gone wrong.
Among them, Wheezer Bell’s fury spikes like a hot‑shot pistol, while “Leather” Kleig keeps a cool, shadowed stare beneath his wide sombrero. Chet Wells chews tobacco in half‑light, and the plump “Wooden‑shoe” Van Dorn watches with a deadpan grin. Their uneasy truce teeters on the brink as they try to sort out who owes what, and whether they’ll risk a final, reckless gamble to claim the missing fortune before the desert swallows them whole.
