The Jungle Baby
The
In the hills of India, little Bab-ba lives in a beautiful white house surrounded by gardens and miles of jungle. With his devoted Ayah, cheerful dog Wooff-Wooff, affectionate cat Mioux-Mioux, and a chorus of hungry birds, his days are full of play and wonder. Bab-ba is kind to every creature, even when some of them are less than friendly.
One garden resident, a large snake named Hoodo, is driven into a fury when Bab-ba interrupts his attempt to catch the birds. Cunning and vengeful, Hoodo seeks help from the fierce animals of the jungle before devising a plan of his own. When Bab-ba is briefly left alone, the snake approaches with a tempting promise of beautiful flowers, drawing the trusting child toward the tangled wilderness. This gentle adventure blends playful animal characters, vivid jungle surroundings, and a growing sense of danger, inviting listeners to follow Bab-ba’s perilous encounter with the wild.

A prolific British children’s author, G. E. Farrow is best remembered for the whimsical Wallypug books—nonsense adventures inspired by the tradition of Lewis Carroll. His imaginative stories and close attention to young readers helped make him a popular figure in children’s literature of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras.
