Description

A bustling early‑twentieth‑century high school sets the stage for a tightly knit group of friends whose loyalty is tested when a classmate faces expulsion. Ned, Bart, and “Stumpy” gather in the auditorium, trading jokes and worries while the stern principal delivers his familiar, sorrowful pronouncement. The nervous hush that follows hints at deeper rivalries and secret motives, and the boys find themselves quietly questioning who truly bears the blame.

Through lively dialogue and vivid schoolyard scenes, the story captures the excitement of youthful camaraderie, the pressure of academic expectations, and the courage it takes to stand up for a friend. As the boys navigate the fallout of the disciplinary hearing, they discover that friendship can turn ordinary school days into unforgettable adventures, laying the groundwork for many more skirmishes, pranks, and daring exploits that will define their years together.
