The ghost of Gamblin' Dan
THE GHOST OF GAMBLIN’ DAN
During supper at a dusty Arizona hotel, young Pen watches his formidable uncle, Major Remington Meeker, react with terror to a figure passing outside. The man resembles Gamblin’ Dan Glade, a gunslinger the major swears he shot dead thirty years earlier in Texas—and whose face he could never mistake. Skeptical Pen dismisses the apparition as coincidence, but the major knows what he saw.
That night, with an old six-shooter close at hand, the major begins confessing the long-buried story behind the shooting. Once a reckless cow-puncher, he fled the scene and has spent decades regretting what he calls a dishonorable trick. Now, if Dan survived, the past may have finally caught up with him; if not, something far stranger has returned. Blending frontier atmosphere, suspense, and a haunting question at its center, this tale follows Pen as he listens to a dangerous secret unfold—and waits to learn who is walking the Arizona streets.
