The Garden of Eden

Ben Connor steps off the train at Lukin Junction with an air of practiced elegance, his Scotch tweed and Panama hat setting him apart from the sleepy townsfolk. Though his broad shoulders are hidden beneath tight gloves, a glint of amusement in his somber eyes hints at a mind always at work. The locals watch him warily, unsure whether to see a refined stranger or a potential threat.

A stout driver soon appears, offering a buckboard and a ride toward the looming mountains that surround the isolated settlement. As the wagon jolts over the gulch, the landscape opens to jagged peaks and an empty valley that seems to swallow any hint of civilization.
