Description

In a sun‑scorched cattle town, a sudden burst of gunfire shatters the quiet afternoon, sending clouds of dust swirling through the streets. Vance Cornish, a steady‑hand storekeeper, watches the chaos from his window while his sister Elizabeth, on a cattle‑buying trip, feels the unease settle like a storm‑cloud over the community. The town’s ordinary rhythm is ripped apart by a reckless rider in a black silk shirt, his laughter echoing as he darts through the melee on horseback.

The Cornish siblings find themselves drawn into the fray when the rider’s daring escape ends in a spectacular fall, his fate hanging in the balance. Elizabeth, ever the pragmatic survivor, refuses to accept the obvious, demanding answers as Vance steadies himself against the shock of the scene. As the dust settles, a lingering mystery lingers—who was the black‑haired gunman, and what will his sudden appearance mean for the quiet lives of those who witnessed his ride?
