Description

Far up in the rugged Northwest, a slow procession of army wagons trudges along the winding Elk River under a scorching October sun. Four companies of infantry and scattered cavalry scouts keep a wary eye on the surrounding valleys, aware that the elusive Sioux are gathering to cross toward the Big Horn. The commander’s orders are clear: intercept every band that tries to slip through the river’s bends before they can regroup.

Amid this tense march, a seasoned cavalry trooper leads a small detachment tasked with rounding up any stragglers, while a restless civilian crowd watches the army’s presence with suspicion and longing for pay. Rumors of a cash‑laden supply boat stir both hope and reckless gambling among the troops, heightening the strain of frontier life. As men grapple with duty, temptation, and the ever‑present threat of conflict, the thin line between obedience and desertion begins to blur.
