DRAMATIS PERSONAE
A weary patriarch lies awake, plagued by mounting debts and a son who spends his nights dreaming of race‑horses. He frets over the interest on borrowed funds, the sting of a lavish marriage, and the looming threat of creditors. In his desperation he decides that a radical education might rescue him, turning to the famous thinker who floats among the clouds.
The play follows his comical attempt to enroll his headstrong boy in the unconventional school of a flamboyant philosopher who claims to teach “just cause” and “unjust cause” through lofty debates with imagined clouds. As the chorus of misty figures comment on human folly, the household’s everyday squabbles are magnified into a satire of pretension, moral relativism, and the absurdities of Athenian life. Listeners will enjoy witty wordplay, rapid banter, and a lively glimpse into a world where philosophy and farce collide in the most uproarious fashion.

A fearless comic voice from ancient Athens, this playwright turned politics, philosophy, and everyday life into sharp, funny theater. His surviving plays still feel lively because they mix outrageous imagination with very human complaints.
