Description

In the shade of a sprawling roof‑garden atop a Rio palacete, the world seems to pause. Gideon Mendoza Morse, a titan of industry whose fortunes were built on coffee, gold and diamonds, reclines in a silk hammock while the tropical chorus of hummingbirds and butterflies swirls around him. His only companion is his spirited daughter Juanita, whose ebony hair and clear‑bell voice hint at a restless heart eager for the night’s departure.

The story lifts off when the pair prepare to set sail from the glittering bay toward an enigmatic destination—a city that hovers among the clouds. As the massive white yacht slips into the harbor, secrets long buried beneath Brazil’s wealth begin to surface, and a network of intrigue, romance, and danger gathers around the looming voyage. Listeners will be drawn into a tale of opulent decadence meeting the unknown, where every sunrise may reveal a new clue about the mysterious sky‑borne metropolis.

The prologue is framed by nostalgic letters recalling festive gatherings in European cities, hinting at the characters' cultured past. Through rich, lyrical prose the narrator paints a world of lavish parties, secret societies, and the restless ambition that drives Gideon and Juanita toward the heavens. Listeners will experience a blend of historical romance and early‑20th‑century adventure as the mystery of the cloud‑city unfolds.
