Description

Detective Gryffe, a seasoned officer weary of routine, is on the brink of retirement when a sudden telegram pulls him back into action. A nervous street boy delivers a hurried message from a glamorous, jewel‑clad woman, warning of a “strange crime” at a venerable mansion on the corner of —— Street. Intrigued and uneasy, Gryffe follows the boy to the imposing, brick‑faced house, its heavy curtains and a polished stoop masking whatever secret lies within. The scene is set in a bustling city where old architecture meets modern commerce, creating a stark contrast between outward respectability and hidden danger.

As the detective steps inside, he confronts an unsettling calm—a shut door, immaculate windows, and a faint stir in an upper pane that hints at something amiss. The mysterious lady’s fleeting appearance and the boy’s shaky testimony raise more questions than answers, promising a labyrinth of clues, hidden motives, and unexpected allies. Listeners will be drawn into a classic early‑twentieth‑century whodunit, where every detail of the house and its occupants could turn the investigation on its head.
