Description

Two teenage brothers, Frank and Harry Chester, spend every spare moment in a cramped garage‑turned workshop, cobbling together a twin‑screw aeroplane named the Golden Eagle and a motor‑sledge for an extraordinary journey. Their excitement is palpable as they race through the cold, bustling docks of the Erie Basin, eager to board the South Polar Expedition’s ship and finally see the frozen continent they have only read about.

At the wharf the boys watch crates stamped “Southern Cross” being hoisted aboard a massive three‑masted steamer, while the clamor of stevedores and the shrill whistle of the winch create a chaotic backdrop to their plans. Amid the hurried preparations, a seasoned captain and a few seasoned hands share cryptic hints about the dangers that await at the pole—treacherous ice, sudden storms, and mysteries hidden beneath the white expanse.

As the Chester twins step onto the deck, their hearts pound with the promise of adventure, and the launch of their aircraft and sledge marks the beginning of a daring race against nature’s most unforgiving frontier.
