Description

A sacred historical narrative, this work presents an abridged record of ancient peoples descended from Israel, preserved on metal plates and offered as a testimony of God’s dealings with humanity. Its opening establishes a sweeping purpose: to remind readers of divine covenants, affirm that God has not abandoned His people, and bear witness to Jesus Christ as the Savior of all nations. Accounts from multiple record keepers and witnesses frame the narrative as both history and spiritual exhortation.

The story begins in Jerusalem, where Lehi receives a warning that the city’s wickedness will bring destruction. He leaves with his wife, Sariah, and their sons—Laman, Lemuel, Sam, and Nephi—and sets out into the wilderness, beginning a journey marked by hardship, family conflict, revelation, and faith. When Nephi and his brothers return to Jerusalem to obtain an important record, the narrative expands into an exploration of obedience, prophecy, memory, and the struggle to preserve truth across generations.

Rooted in visions, migration, and missionary work, this history follows a faith community that grew from a small movement in 1830 New York into a global church. It offers a window into the beliefs, conflicts, and resilience that shaped modern Latter-day Saint life.
