Description

A lively first‑class carriage on a Dover‑London boat train becomes a crossroads for three striking women—a witty American socialite, a melancholy Latin‑born traveler, and Hester Storm, a spirited newcomer with a secret stash of cash. Their conversation catches the attention of a solemn English bishop, whose polished manners hide a curious preoccupation with a heavy leather purse he carries.

When the bishop boasts about a five‑thousand‑pound American donation, the atmosphere shifts from polite chatter to whispered speculation. Hester’s ear picks up the mention of the purse, and the ordinary journey suddenly feels charged with hidden motives and the promise of far‑reaching consequences. Listeners are drawn into a tale of chance encounters, cultural clashes, and the subtle spark of intrigue that may alter the lives of everyone aboard.
