Description

In the summer of 1813 a fragile peace blankets the Alabama and Mississippi frontier, but whispers of war stir among the Creek Indians. British agents fan the flames while the charismatic chief Tecumseh urges the Creeks to take up arms, his predictions of an earth‑shaking omen lending a frightening certainty to the looming conflict. Prophets within the tribe declare that abandoning the white ways is the only path to appeasing the Great Spirit, and the tension builds into a tinderbox ready to ignite.

Settlers huddle behind the stockade walls of forts like Sinquefield and Fort Mims, each blockhouse bristling with rifles and nervous resolve. Men, women, and even boys old enough to shoulder a gun gather supplies, preparing for attacks that could sweep through fields and homes alike. When the Creeks finally strike Fort Mims, the brutal assault leaves only a handful of survivors, sending shockwaves through the frontier and driving anyone still on their farms into the protective embrace of the forts.
