He’s a former playboy turned famed big‑game hunter, known for tracking impossibly dangerous beasts across the solar system—from Plutonian ice bears to telepathic Uranian wolves. After the sudden death of his beloved Melody, he abandoned the glittering social scene and bought his own star‑ship, hoping the void would quiet his grief. His reputation for daring expeditions has made him a legend, but it also draws a crowd of curious officials eager to vet his latest, highly unconventional voyage.
Now Holloway sits in a cramped hotel suite, shaking as an authority examiner flips through his ship’s log. He insists he must keep talking, warning that a tiger—real or imagined—appeared in the vessel’s narrow passageway, sending the crew into a panic. His frantic ramblings hint at something unseen prowling the darkness of deep space, and the tension builds as the officials decide whether to believe his terrifying account.
