Description

In the quiet of Oxbow Village, a mysterious telegram reaches Mr. William Murray Bradshaw, prompting him to chase after Myrtle Hazard, who has abruptly left the city. Their sudden reunion rekindles conversations left unfinished at a recent party, while a young poet waits out his publishing duties and an old friend, Master Gridley, watches the scene unfold. The atmosphere is charged with the promise of a looming land dispute that could reshape fortunes, and the characters move through familiar social circles with a mixture of curiosity and caution.

Master Gridley, a former college officer with a keen eye for intrigue, suspects that Bradshaw’s pursuit of Myrtle hides more than simple affection. He notes the subtle exchanges between Bradshaw and the enigmatic Miss Cynthia Badlam, as well as Kitty Fagan’s fierce loyalty to Myrtle, which adds another layer to the unfolding drama. As the village’s ordinary rhythms mask deeper schemes, listeners are invited to follow the delicate dance of motives, secrets, and the tender yet uncertain hearts at play.
