Description

In the relentless heat of Western Australia's outback, a ragged mining camp clings to life around a dwindling waterhole. Smith, a weather‑worn prospector, drifts from the dust‑filled Pilbarra Hotel into the unforgiving desert, haunted by the promise of gold and the dread of mortality. Around him, a motley crowd of hopefuls, thieves, and foreign laborers scramble for fortune while disease and thirst gnaw at their resolve.

Against this bleak backdrop a chance meeting with Tom the water‑carrier sparks a daring scheme that could turn scarcity into salvation. As rumors of a hidden vein spread, Smith teams with a determined stranger and a young woman whose own motives are as mysterious as the landscape itself. Together they must outwit rival claim‑jumpers, navigate treacherous billabongs, and confront the unforgiving terrain before the next summer blaze claims another dream.
