Description

The story opens on the once‑vast estate of Segelfoss, a self‑made empire that grew from a modest farm of fifty cows into a bustling hub of sawmills, brick ovens, watermills and endless forest. Its founder, the ambitious Willatz Holmsen, climbs from a hired hand to a powerful landowner, surrounding himself with grand architecture, marble‑clad rooms, and a glittering collection of books and silverware. The narrative paints a vivid picture of his wife’s cosmopolitan flair and the lavish ceremonies that turn everyday life into a page out of a fairy tale.

As the Holmsen children come of age, the family’s world revolves around opulent travel, rigorous schooling, and a retinue of servants who glide through corridors at the slightest command. Yet beneath the sparkle, whispers of financial strain and hidden motives begin to surface, hinting that the glittering façade may conceal deeper uncertainties. The opening sets a tone of both awe and intrigue, inviting listeners to explore the fragile balance between wealth, legacy, and the human heart.
