Description

In a dusty frontier town where water is as precious as gold, a hardened businessman named James Cunningham runs the Dry Valley irrigation project with an iron grip. When a desperate young woman, Esther McLean, bursts into his office demanding help, her pleas expose a simmering resentment among the local farmers, who accuse Cunningham of swindling them and threaten violent retribution. The tension escalates as a mysterious letter arrives, hinting at a deeper conspiracy that could ruin the whole settlement.

Cunningham’s reputation for ruthless self‑interest is put to the test when a determined district attorney steps onto the scene, and a high‑stakes poker game at the city club becomes a backdrop for secret alliances and whispered threats. As the first act unfolds, listeners are drawn into a world of rugged ambition, hidden motives, and the stark beauty of the western landscape, setting the stage for a gripping detective tale that will keep them guessing what lies beyond the next trail.
