Description

A young woman of eighteen lives in the rolling countryside of Limousin, where every window frames a patchwork of fields, hills and distant towns. Her days unwind in a tranquil rhythm of market fairs, village noises, and the soft hum of a nearby railway, while evenings are painted with the glow of a setting sun and the distant call of a solitary hawk. The routine is gently disrupted when the village postman arrives with a letter bearing an Australian stamp, sparking a blush of excitement and a sudden yearning for far‑off horizons.

The letter awakens a restless curiosity that clashes with the familiar comforts of her rural home. She begins to sense the pull of a world beyond the familiar valleys—an exotic Pacific distance that seems both alluring and intimidating. As she grapples with this newfound desire, the story follows her quiet contemplation and the subtle shifts in her outlook, hinting at possibilities that may soon carry her beyond the familiar lanes of her youth.
