Description

Squib, the solitary child of a bustling household, has earned his nickname not for any oddity of character but because he never quite fits into a sibling pair. While his brothers and sisters cling to dolls and each other, he prefers the quiet of the garden and the endless horizon beyond the nursery walls. His habit of sitting in thoughtful silence before bursting into rapid, eager chatter has made him both a curiosity and a favorite of his busy father, the Colonel.

The story follows Squib as his restless imagination leads him beyond the confines of his family estate. Accompanied by a rag‑tag group of friends, he embarks on a series of outdoor adventures—exploring a chalet in the hills, tending a little goat herd, and wandering through mountain trails that promise both wonder and danger. Along the way, the boy’s unique perspective and quiet bravery begin to shape the lives of those around him, hinting at the deeper bonds that will form as the journey unfolds.
