Description

In the cramped, ink‑stained world of a mid‑Sixteenth‑century London print shop, a young apprentice learns the trade under the watchful eye of Master Robert Walgrave. He balances the rote rhythm of setting type with a restless ambition to make his mark on the bustling city that pulses just beyond Temple Bar. Through his eyes we glimpse the daily mix of apprentices, masters, and the ever‑present hum of street vendors and gossip.

All of that changes on a bright May morning when the royal procession of Queen Elizabeth approaches the Strand. The apprentice drops his tools, rushes into the street, and shouts a booming “God save her Majesty!”—a cry that ignites a chaotic chorus of caps, horns, and even a few angry puddings. His fierce loyalty and brash humor set the stage for a vivid portrait of London life under the Great Queen, as he wrestles with duty, pride, and the buzzing energy of a city on the brink of history.
