Silver Bird's flight

Ray Folsom has spent years waiting for the chance to prove himself in the skies. Now, with the powerful Silver Bird ready on a Long Island airfield, he is set to attempt a record-breaking nonstop flight from New York to Warsaw—and to carry wealthy widow Jarvis Benham into aviation history as the first woman to cross the Atlantic by air. For Ray, the daring venture is more than a flight: it is the fulfillment of a dream postponed by circumstance.

But as reporters crowd the field and preparations move toward a dawn departure, Ray cannot shake a strange feeling that events are slipping beyond his control. The weather is uncertain, the risks are immense, and someone—or something—may be waiting behind the glamour of the expedition. As the Silver Bird prepares to challenge the ocean, ambition, trust, and danger take their places aboard the same fragile machine.
