Description

In the heat of a Mediterranean dawn, a flotilla of British destroyers slices through mist‑shrouded waters, their crew juggling the ordinary and the extraordinary. From the captain’s weary chuckle to the frantic radio call announcing a torpedoed convoy ship, the narrative captures the tense rhythm of patrol life—bombs rattling overhead, sudden squalls, and the constant threat of unseen U‑boats stalking vital supply routes.

Against this backdrop, a young officer watches the convoy’s fate unfold and is thrust into a high‑stakes chase. Air‑planes, blimps and sea‑planes circle while drifters cast mile‑long nets, turning the sea into a sprawling arena where “hounds” of steel and sky pursue a silent predator. The prose blends vivid battlefield detail with the camaraderie of the crew, inviting listeners to feel the clang of gunfire, the spray of the surf, and the relentless drive to protect a lifeline in wartime.
