Description

When his best friend’s red setter, Ruddy, goes missing, twelve‑year‑old Rick Dalton drops everything and sprints through the streets of his seaside town, his heart pounding with worry. Joined by his loyal neighbor Chot, the boys race past familiar alleys, sharing the odd childhood ritual of bending over a stone to ease a side‑ache, a small comic moment that underscores their camaraderie. Their hurried trek leads them to Uncle Tod’s yard, where Ruddy finally appears, wagging his tail, but the relief is tinged with a new unease.

A whispered rumor about a ruthless shooter targeting dogs spreads through the neighborhood, and Rick can’t shake the feeling that his companion could be in real danger. Determined to protect Ruddy, the friends resolve to follow any clues, setting out toward the mysterious Lost River that lies beyond the town’s edge. Along the way they’ll encounter rugged terrain, unexpected allies, and the untamed spirit of the western frontier, all while trying to stay one step ahead of a hidden threat.
