Description

In a remote forest glade a stone castle crowns a steep hill, its four towers capped with lead and walls clinging to the rock below. Inside, courtyards bloom with basil and heliotrope, orchards, vineyards and a range of stables, bakeries and wine cellars, while the lord—wrapped in a fox‑skin cloak—governs his domain with the calm routine of a monk. He spends mornings assigning tasks, tending herbs and sewing altar cloths, and evenings listening to the wind through the high arches, living a life of quiet order and modest pride.

When his wife gives birth to a son, the castle erupts in celebration, but the joy is quickly shadowed by a strange nocturnal visitor—a gaunt hermit draped in a monk’s robe, who whispers that the child is destined for sanctity. The next morning the household is startled by the arrival of a ragged beggar and a gypsy, each bearing ominous warnings about blood, honor, and a royal lineage. Their unsettling proclamations stir uneasy murmurs among the servants, hinting that the peaceful reign may soon be tested by forces beyond the castle walls.
