Description

Set in a bustling little inn on the outskirts of a Finnish village, the story opens with a noisy gathering of locals and strangers. A boisterous Samarian named the laupias samarialaane mingles with a newcomer from Kokkola who claims to be a “karstaporvari”, while a visiting journalist from Helsinki watches the scene with amused curiosity. The dialogue crackles with dialect, slapstick misunderstandings, and sudden eruptions of laughter as the characters argue over coffee, song, and a mysterious “kialtolaki”.

Through rapid, witty exchanges the narrative sketches a vivid portrait of rural life in the early 1920s—sharp‑tongued innkeepers, eccentric travelers, and a chorus of mismatched voices that turn everyday chores into comic theater. Listeners are invited to follow the chaotic energy of the first act, where every request for a drink or a song spirals into a delightful tumble of words and actions, leaving the audience eager to see what further shenanigans the village will produce.
