Description

A thick London fog blankets the streets near Hyde Park, turning a simple evening carriage ride into a chaotic comedy of errors. Mrs. F. and her husband, Mr. F., are locked inside a rattling brougham, hurrying to a dinner engagement while their driver, the irascible Peacock, battles invisible obstacles and relentless horse‑slips. Their banter crackles with Victorian wit as they argue over speed, direction, and the absurdity of navigating a city swallowed by mist.

The tension rises as the couple’s attempts to locate a familiar landmark devolve into a farcical search for a “linkman” and a bewildered policeman who appears from the gloom. Every turn reveals a new mishap—colliding with benches, mistaking a lamp post for a guide, and the baffling presence of a phantom vehicle. Listeners will be drawn into the lively, tongue‑in‑cheek portrait of a night where courtesy, confusion, and the clatter of horse‑drawn wheels collide in pure Victorian humor.
