Description

A raucous night at a country lodge turns into a comic scramble when young Terence, half‑in love and half‑in mischief, hopes to slip away with his secret sweetheart, Miss Biddy. The gathering’s guests have all retired to their rooms, leaving only a few—among them the haberdasher and an eccentric uncle—to nurse a “punch of extra strength” before the doors finally close. As the fire crackles and the revelry fades, Terence’s aspirations are dampened by soggy boots and a sudden bout of exhaustion, sending him into a restless sleep filled with ridiculous dreams of fleeing through a bog.

When a clatter at the window awakens him, Terence’s frantic attempts to flee are thwarted by the absurdly shrunken size of his own shoes, forcing him to wrestle with them in a hilariously futile struggle. Desperate, he plots to borrow another pair, only to be startled by the fierce bark of Towser, the watch‑dog, whose sudden grip adds another layer of chaos to an already tangled escape.
