Description

A whimsical detective tale unfolds as the eccentric sleuth Picklock Holes gathers a curious troupe of bright‑minded children around a crackling fire. Their playful guesses about the contents of his pocket soon turn into earnest lessons in observation, while Holes prepares for a new assignment: a baffling theft at a remote Scottish estate. The readers are whisked northward on the “Scotch express,” stepping into mist‑laden moors and a crumbling castle where every footstep and discarded scrap may hide a clue.

In the opening act, Holes confronts reluctant local police, maps the entire grounds, and interviews every inhabitant with relentless, almost comical, thoroughness. The narrative mixes witty dialogue, lively character sketches, and a gentle satire of Victorian society’s obsession with deduction. Listeners will enjoy the charming blend of humor and classic mystery as the adventure sets the stage for a deeper, yet‑to‑be‑revealed intrigue.
