Description

A young Venetian woman opens a long‑forgotten diary and begins to record the restless thoughts that have finally compelled her to leave her beloved city. Elena’s voice is intimate and unflinching as she catalogues the quiet boredom of her early years, the sudden loss of familiar faces, and the unsettling prospect of moving thousands of miles to Tiflis, a place whose language and customs are completely unknown to her. Her reflections on duty, family obligations, and the fragile hope of independence create a vivid portrait of a woman on the brink of a life‑changing departure.

The volume continues with a handful of short stories that echo Elena’s themes—people out of place, moments caught between tradition and modernity, and the small, often bittersweet dramas of everyday life. Together they offer listeners a mosaic of late‑19th‑century Italian sensibility, rendered with a frank, lyrical tone that invites both empathy and contemplation.
