Description

Aureata, a fledgling republic perched on the South‑American coast, is still finding its footing in the late 19th century. Its first president, a charismatic and self‑taught visionary, shaped the nation’s constitution and its very identity, yet the country wrestles with stagnant agriculture, heavy taxes, and a populace more inclined toward celebration than hard work. The opening chapters trace this fragile balance, showing how the leader’s bold ideas clash with the practical demands of governing a diverse and often reluctant citizenry.

Into this restless backdrop arrives a young office clerk, fresh from a steam‑ship journey and eager to prove his worth. Tasked with a modest yet crucial assignment, he quickly discovers that the corridors of power are riddled with personal ambitions, political maneuverings, and the lingering shadows of the president’s own past. As he navigates the delicate dance between official duties and hidden agendas, the listener is invited to experience a vivid portrait of a nation on the verge of transformation.
