Description

A carefree Englishman, comfortable in his family’s genteel circles, spends his days debating trivialities with his sister‑in‑law while dreaming of a more exciting identity. When a chance conversation about the illustrious Elphberg line sparks his curiosity, he discovers a striking family resemblance to a foreign royal house that has been overthrown. The intrigue deepens as he learns that the deposed king of Ruritania, a charismatic stranger with a famously long nose and flaming hair, vanished under mysterious circumstances during a visit to England.

Compelled by a mix of boredom, pride, and a hint of adventure, he decides to travel to the fictional kingdom of Ruritania, where his uncanny likeness could prove both a blessing and a peril. There, he becomes entangled in a web of political conspiracies, secret passages, and a blossoming romance that forces him to choose between his comfortable life at home and a daring role that could alter the fate of a nation. The story unfolds with witty banter, daring escapades, and a timeless question of what makes a true king.
