In the summer of 1880, before Montana became a state, a stretch of prairie known as the Mauvaises Terres loomed like a haunted wasteland. Local lore insists an evil spirit once tried to make the earth its home, shaping twisted stone pillars and echoing blizzards that seem to belong to another world. The Bad Lands are a place where the ordinary rules of frontier life dissolve, offering a perfect backdrop for a tale that blends myth with the raw grit of the Old West.
Riding into that desolation are Blaze Carlin, a striking horseman with a streak of white hair and a reputation for honest gambling, and his wiry companion Frenchy Ditteau, a fierce knife‑fighter with a devil‑may‑care grin. Bound together by a daring escape from a Deadwood saloon showdown, they head north, drawn by rumors of a town that won’t welcome them. As they cross the eerie plains, they sense that the legends may be more than stories, and the land itself seems ready to test their courage.
