Description

A teenage boy, fresh from his first day at a gentleman’s academy, stumbles upon the infamous Captain Coffin stumbling drunkenly through the market streets of Falmouth. The encounter is vivid, set against the lingering shadows of the Napoleonic wars and a family scarred by loss, injury, and the quiet desperation of a blind veteran. Through the narrator’s eyes we feel the weight of duty, the ache of forgotten love, and the restless curiosity that draws him toward the captain’s wild reputation.

That restless curiosity soon leads him beyond the familiar cliffs of Cornwall to a remote, poisonous island whispered about among sailors. The island promises danger, hidden treasure, and a chance for the young narrator to escape the melancholy of his home life. As he prepares for the perilous journey, the story balances gritty historical detail with the thrill of an unfolding adventure, inviting listeners to join a quest that could reshape his destiny.
