Description

A vibrant anthology brings together the finest verses of a poet whose life straddled two worlds—born in the bustling quarter of Galata, a child of Greek lineage, yet raised in French culture. His early years were suffused with the classical revival sweeping Europe, and the echo of ancient myth suffuses his lyrical imagination. The selection captures his reverence for Hellenic heritage while celebrating the French Enlightenment’s precision and elegance.

Compiled for advanced students, the volume offers thoughtfully crafted notes that assume a solid grounding in history and mythology, allowing the poems to breathe unencumbered by elementary explanations. Each piece showcases his dazzling command of rhythm, vivid imagery, and a passionate blend of patriotism and personal yearning. Listeners will discover how his verses bridge the grandeur of antiquity with the turbulence of his own turbulent era, making the collection both a linguistic treasure and a window into the soul of a poet caught between cultures.
