Pluck on the Long Trail; Or, Boy Scouts in the Rockies

A troop of earnest Boy Scouts sets out on a rugged summer trek across the Rocky Mountains, eager to test the skills they’ve learned in camp. Their journey takes them over high passes, through dense pine forests, and along crystal‑clear streams, where they must rely on teamwork, resourcefulness, and the timeless Scout motto of “be prepared.” Along the way, the boys practice knot‑tying, fire‑making, and navigation while confronting the raw beauty and occasional dangers of the wilderness.

The early chapters follow the Scouts as they face a sudden night‑time encounter that forces them to improvise shelter and keep watch, and later they chase a legendary trout in a sparkling river, learning patience and technique. A mysterious “Beaver Man” adds a hint of local folklore, prompting the group to blend practical scouting knowledge with respect for the land’s history.
