Description

The story opens in the moon‑lit streets of Caesarea, where King Herod Agrippa is hosting a lavish festival for Emperor Claudius. The city thrums with revelers, soldiers, and traders, while a stark stone prison looms on a nearby hill. Inside, a hundred Jewish prisoners are slated to fight a larger force of desert Arabs in a staged battle that promises freedom to the survivors, and a small, fearful group of Christian women and children huddle under the arches, whispering about a crucified preacher named Jesus.

Among the captives, a young Jewish girl named Miriam begins to emerge as a quiet leader, her courage sparking hope in the cramped quarters. As the night deepens, the prisoners listen to distant cheers from the circus arena, aware that their fates will soon intertwine with the larger turmoil threatening Jerusalem itself. The tension between Roman authority, local sects, and the growing Christian faith sets the stage for a tale of survival, faith, and impending conflict.
