Description

A lone inn clings to a windswept coast, shrouded in fog and the distant echo of crashing rocks. Inside, the fire crackles while a weary landlord watches over a handful of secretive travelers—men and women who slip through the night from France and Holland, seeking refuge from a kingdom that now hunts a king. The infamous Charles Stuart, freshly defeated at Worcester and crowned in the chaos, arrives under a veil of disguise, his notorious reputation for both indulgence and loyalty hanging like a cloud over the cheap rum and the cold sea.

In the dim glow, the king’s charismatic daring clashes with the innkeeper’s calculating greed, setting the stage for tense conversations, whispered plans, and fleeting moments of unexpected tenderness. The narrative blends gritty historical detail with a romantic edge, inviting listeners to feel the chill of outlaw life, the urgency of a man on the run, and the fragile humanity that flickers beneath the crown’s weight.
