Description

Set against the wild, untamed forests of early‑19th‑century Alabama, the story follows three young men—Jack, a seasoned frontiersman, Frank, a recent graduate from Richmond, and Running Elk, a keen‑eyed Cherokee scout—as they seek a safe spot to camp beside a hidden creek. Their differing backgrounds blend into a fragile camaraderie, while the surrounding landscape teems with the sounds of rustling leaves, distant streams, and the ever‑present hum of hidden movement.

When a thin column of smoke rises over a ridge, the trio’s routine night‑time stop turns into cautious investigation. Jack’s practiced eyes spot fresh horse tracks and the tell‑tale drag of poles—signs that another party has already claimed the spot. With tension building, they must decide whether to approach the unknown presence or retreat deeper into the woods, all while the forest itself seems to whisper of larger conflicts stirring beyond their immediate horizon.
