A tightly knit circle of ten Lisbon friends, all born in the provinces, decides to escape the city’s routine for a spring outing to Cintra. Their excuse—listening to the elusive rouxinoes— hides a deeper longing for the youthful nights of love and the simple pleasures of provincial festivals. The plan is half‑serious, half‑impromptu, flavored with promises of local sweets, orange delicacies and the camaraderie of a shared adventure.
When the day finally arrives, a nervous yet seasoned traveller arranges a carriage at the last minute, and the group departs amid banter, teasing and a sense of playful rebellion against their everyday responsibilities. Each man is challenged to tell a story by night’s fire, turning the journey into a “partie de plaisir” where poetry, anecdotes and boisterous jokes compete for the spotlight. The evening air over the hills of Cintra hints at both nostalgia and the creative spark that will drive their first night of storytelling.
