Description

The story unfolds on a modest Finnish farm where the steady rhythm of daily life is ruled by Matti, a stern but fair husband, and his wife Eeva‑Kaisa. With their grown‑up children Janne, a calm and witty young man, and Anna, bright yet often constrained by expectations, the household is visited by the easy‑going Atte and the steady Sulaka, setting the stage for a gentle clash of old habits and fresh ideas. When Matti begins to sense that his world has narrowed to work and field, he tentatively reaches for something beyond the familiar, sparking a series of comic misunderstandings that ripple through the family.

Presented in three lively acts, the play balances sharp dialogue with tender moments, revealing how each character copes with change in their own idiosyncratic way. The humor is rooted in everyday situations—quiet jokes, playful banter, and the occasional over‑the‑top proclamation—that keep the tone while probing deeper questions of purpose and connection. Listeners will find a warm portrait of a rural family confronting the revolution of self‑discovery, all wrapped in the charm of a well‑timed comedy.
