Transcriber's Notes:
Mother Grunty, the clever brick‑house pig who once outwitted the Wandering Wolf, now lives peacefully with her two little piglets. The elder, Blacky‑ears, dreads mischief yet is easily swayed by a whisper, while the younger, Little‑wee Pig, is perpetually upbeat and eager for adventure. When a sudden need sends Mother Grunty on a journey to the bustling town of Styford, she worries that the lingering threat of wolves might still loom over her children. She implores the piglets to stay obedient and promises a safe return, setting the tone for a day full of anticipation.
Dressed in crisp new clothes, the trio boards a lively train, turning the ride into a game of “I Spy” as countryside scenes flash past the window. Upon reaching Styford, the city’s clamor overwhelms the country‑bred family, and Mother Grunty clutches her piglets’ hands to guide them across the bustling streets. Yet Blacky‑ears, already half‑listening to a mischievous whisper on his shoulder, begins to test his independence, hinting that the journey may hold more challenges than the simple crossing itself.
