Born to a Swedish‑born captain who settled in Rauma and a fiercely learned mother known locally as “the Rauma library,” the boy grew up surrounded by stories of distant lands and heroic deeds. His mother’s habit of sharing myths, geography and history turned the family home into a cradle of curiosity, while the bustling market town supplied a rugged playground for a child who adored adventure. Even as a youngster he displayed a blend of physical stamina and intellectual hunger that set him apart from his peers.
In his teenage years the Myhrberg brothers became celebrated for their strength, skiing, swimming and marksmanship, but it was the middle son, Mattias Aukusti, whose daring and loyalty earned him the nickname “the king among friends.” His early exploits—climbing cliffs, daring wind‑mill stunts, and navigating the harsh Finnish winters—foreshadow a life that would soon carry him far beyond Rauma’s borders, chasing the very legends his mother once narrated.
