In a bleak, autumn night an old inn in Montcada comes to life, its stone arches and hay‑laden loft illuminated by a solitary lantern. The stage is filled with the scent of dried straw, cracked plaster and the faint clatter of wheels, creating a cramped world where workers and travelers intersect. The atmosphere feels both weary and uneasy, hinting at hidden grievances that simmer beneath the routine of daily chores.
A small cast of middle‑aged men and a restless youth named Cisco clash over the simple task of feeding the livestock. Cisco’s half‑hearted folk tune about the length of the hay draws bemused, often irritable reactions from the older Vicens and the other laborers, whose banter reveals a web of complaints, petty thefts and the constant pressure of keeping the inn running. As the characters negotiate duties and accusations, listeners are drawn into a slice of rural life where humor, frustration and the threat of a larger conflict linger just beyond the lantern’s glow.
