Description

When Little Henry settles beneath the garden arbor to study, a sudden struggle interrupts his lesson: a yellow cat has attacked a beautiful red bird. Henry rescues the injured creature and, with his mother’s help, places it safely in a cage, where he carefully provides seeds, water, flowers, and patient attention. As the bird begins to recover, Henry’s imagination fills the house with hopes of friendship and companionship.

This gentle children’s story follows Henry as he learns that caring for something does not always mean keeping it. Through his parents’ kindness and guidance, he begins to understand the difference between protection and confinement, and to see happiness from the bird’s point of view. Set among flowers, birdsong, sunshine, and a welcoming family garden, the tale offers a warm lesson about love, freedom, sympathy, and growing wiser through experience. A later adventure with a brightly painted kite adds another touch of wonder to Henry’s day.
